Character Sculpt and Ball Jointed Armature

'Baba Yaga' Puppet head

The character sculpt is based on “Baba Yaga” and is my own design and interpretation of the character. I sculpted her in super sculpey and then made a silicone mould. She was then cast in fast cast resin with a slight pigment to create the base tone for the skin.

I am very interested in puppet making and stop motion so during my second year at uni I made a ball jointed armature for a human form. The armature was assembled primarily by silver soldering, including the sqaure brass tubing for the rigging points. The hands are made from twisted aluminium and copper wires with epoxy for the tips and milliput for the palms. These are removed by sliding in and out of the brass tubing.
